Happy Spring! Hope you've been able to get outside and enjoy some of the beautiful days we've had recently - just enjoying a walk or relishing a bit of yard work before it becomes just another chore.
Yep - I missed another newsletter issue, didn't I? Thanks for not chastising me - my own guilt is enough of a monster, surely! My vision continues to be an issue and there are days when things are just too blurry to try to do anything that requires exacting work - like publishing on the Internet. Excuses, excuses! Not a Pity Party; just what is! But this is just a great reminder for us all: we are never really 'done' with anything, are we? It's all just part of a big process, isn't it?
Organizing, your time or your stuff, is exactly that - something you work on for a bit; get 'just so;' then our grand Life lets us know that, yes: we had it 'good enough,' but now it's time to change it yet again! Wasted time? Heck, no! As you've learned from me over the years: who YOU are changes over time and thus, what works for you changes over time. Bingo! And isn't that grand? How boring if we just checked things off our lists, never to revisit those things, those memories again!
Procrastination and perfectionism are two of the stumbling blocks to the entire process, surely. I'm running into that a lot myself lately, although I'm able to be much more lenient with myself since my vision issue arose earlier this year. The trick is to suck it up and go on! Other people have SO much more to deal with, and I have great hope that with expert doctors and today's technology, my sight will return, at least to 'good enough,' if not better!
Things may not get done the way my 'old' self would have wanted, but they ARE getting done, in one guise or another. Besides, remember: you're never really 'done,' so why have that expectation in the first place? What I've experienced thus far this year is the epitome of Murphy's Law on steroids - which I've had to take, too! HA! Weight-lifters, beware - I'm coming to get you!
So, let's revisit some of the ways you CAN get more done, hopefully in a timely, appropriate manner (that doesn't mean slovenly, remember):
1. Focus on one thing at a time, especially if you're feeling a bit out of kilter.
2. Be intentional about your 'to do' list and aim to have only two or three items on it at any one time.
3. Determine what Productivity Level you are dealing with at any given time. Some days we just aren't going to be as active and efficient as others - and that's OK!
4. Remember that being busy is not the same as being productive. Feeling at peace with your day's accomplishments will make you successful and happy!
5. Accept that you truly are NEVER REALLY DONE, and you wouldn't want it any other way now, would you? Boring!
So, here's to you and Spring: a new burst of activity; a fresh outlook now that the winter doldrums have left us; and onward and upward to that little organizing project you've been putting off - now's the time!
May you be well. May you be happy. May you be peaceful.
(And if you're organized, too? A big bonus!)
