Happy New Year! Hope you've been enjoying all the exuberance of the last several days and weeks. We have snow on the ground right now, so that definitely adds to the joy of the season.
I've been waiting to share an organizing project we've been working on for months and finally, just in time for 2016, we're (almost) done! What else but ... the garage! Yes, that place where, hopefully, you are able to get the one most expensive item you'll probably ever purchase out of the weather and under cover - your car. Luckily, we've always had that 'rule' that the car is the one thing that does get to be 'inside' and that has certainly helped us get our cars to 200K miles before we decide to trade them in.
Didn't think to take a lot of "before" shots of 'what was' and, even though it was organized and we could find what we needed - not ideal, by any means. Here's a 'before' shot from this summer, as we started to purchase Jim's workbench and cabinetry to put everything behind closed doors, with dust-free access and, actually, being able to find something:
So, what were some of the 'decision' or 'vision points' we talked about and planned for?
Here's to all your organizing dreams coming true in 2016!
Look at your books, games, music, and movies. With the advent of digital technology and streaming online videos, we don’t need to keep as much physical entertainment around as we used to. Do you own a video game you played once and then never touched again? Get rid of it! The same can go for books, music, and movies. Plus, with Christmas right around the corner, share your excess - how good does that feel?!
Try keeping track for a week or month and making conscious changes to your time management. It’ll help you make more time for doing the things you love and the things that make you feel great.
