We've been back from our adventure to Italy for several weeks now and I don't think I can blame 'residual jet-lag'; the changing of the seasons; change of daylight savings time; or just plain procrastination anymore. However, you may have noted, that the October blog was non-existent! (Sigh ... I loath not keeping promises ....)
So, knowing that all the craziness of Halloween (just past), Thanksgiving (around the corner) and Christmas and New year's (impending) are approaching like a gale-force wind, it's like I just can't get it together! Sort of like, "If I don't get thus-and-such done, It'll be there tomorrow, right?"
The problem with that is, whatever the 'thus-and-such' was just keeps compounding, right? Like that pile on the corner of your desk, huh? Maybe there is such a thing as pre-holiday funk! Or, is this just classic procrastination?!
I don't usually have an issue with getting through the 'shoulds' or all my lists, so this has given me pause for thought as to 'why' I'm being so ... lazy?? No, it's not that - I'm plenty busy, as I know you are, and we're not sitting around eating bonbons and watching the tube, surfing the web and all such time-sinks! There just seems to be a general malaise in the atmosphere.
I know! Let's blame the horrifyingly-long election season we've had, OK?! No matter how you plan to vote or deal with the aftermath, I think it's just the powerlessness that I feel about what may happen in my near-future that's gotten to me. I mean, when was the last time there was anything civil in the news? (Actually, on the web today there was a story of an awesome father who helped his 3-year-old trick-or-treat on a plane, with all the passengers participating! Brought tears to my eyes, it was such a heartfelt, lovely sentiment by all involved!)
THIS is what we need more of, right? The wonderful Law of Attraction tells us that what we think about and speak about we'll get more of (condensed very sloppily). So, let's just stop the vitriol, the threats, the negativity and all the violence and aim for something better that I know we all have in us!
WOW! I don't know about you, but I feel SO much better! One more week and, as they say, 'it'll all be over but the shouting!' But, I'm saying: let's stop the shouting! Let's aim to become the better people that I know we are. We met so many wonderful people on our trip - helpful, polite, generous folks who helped us create the trip of a lifetime. (More on that later - my funk just had to be dealt with first!)
OK, so if you've felt the general discontent that I've fallen into lately, let's get up now and get to it - the "it" being all that we've been putting off! Tomorrow's a new day and with it always is our next, best chance to make a difference - for ourselves and everyone else in our little corner of the world! Whether it's pre-holiday-season calendar-craziness or this danged election - no more! Onward and upward - together we can do anything!
Wishing you a delightful November, with beautifully-colored falling leaves; yummy toddies, cocoas and cookies by the fire; and long walks in quiet woodlands!
