Have you noticed that I've gotten a bit off track with my correspondence lately? Hmmm.... Yep, busy playing in this long, hot summer and just plain enjoying Life! Now that Fall is officially here, I'm back at my desk and paying attention once again!
We had a call from our electric company recently, informing us that we'd won $50 since we do e-bill and e-pay and our prize can be credited toward that bill. Wahoo! Feeling like I'd just won the Big Lotto or something, I started really being cognizant of all these little 'prizes' that come our way each and every day:
Seems all we have to do is just pay a little attention and our Abundance Reality just comes pouring out! Nope - I'm not a 'religious' person, but do believe in being thankful for all that comes my way, and counting blessings along the route. And you know what? It isn't even close to Thanksgiving yet! HA!
Here's to recognizing and cherishing the abundance in your life! Just start making note of the little things - even your nice, even breath - and you're on your way!
So, it's been a while since my last missive, hasn't it? With days on end of 100+ degrees, I've just been stymied trying to get much done - outside or inside. Are you feeling the same way?
Yes, this weather and all the fun that summer traditionally bring have brought full-force the recognition of situational disorganization. This, as opposed to chronic disorganization, when no matter what, you just can't seem to get a thing done, year after year after year. Heat or cold; life's events - happy or sad; looking for permanent vs. temporary fixes - situational disorganization comes and goes. I've been facing that in droves of late!
Up at the crack of dawn just to get walks in or some gardening done before we get to 90 degrees, and working long into the evenings, with a lot of 'dead time' in the middle of the day, right? The desire to just go-go-go has sort of gone recently, but I know to be kind to myself and am dealing with any guilt by reminding myself to just be present, be mindful, be grateful. Sound a bit woo-woo to you? Don't worry - your get-up-and-go will return as we put away the iced teas and jump into fall, which is just around the corner.
In the meantime, please remember that there is no such thing as perfection, so aim for good enough to get the most mundane tasks done. I'm talking about the laundry, ironing (what's that, millenials might ask?), housekeeping, shopping and cooking - keep it easy and just 'git 'er done! Salads have been our main fare lately and that's not only healthy but less expensive than many food options, so all's well. Looking for the 'easy way out' always works, and fits right into the 'good enough' philosophy. That said, remember that 'good enough' isn't to be equated with being sloppy or slovenly - just cut yourself a break on any and all 'rules' you may have been raised with or concocted over the years. Be easy on yourself - be easy on yourself - I can't repeat that enough!
Yoga and Pilates have been our exercise recently; lawn care is hired out; reading has taken on new importance; gardening is just what must be done - watering and deadheading, early in the day. Guess what? There's nothing wrong with wanting to slow down and move more slowly through these heated days. Watching our cats is always a good lesson - running around early and late in the day and that's it for any major progress. Nothing wrong with this, right?
So, there! Have I made you feel less guilty about your lack of progress on that To-Do List? Aim for 2-3 items per week, maybe, instead of 2-3 per day - the Completion Police are on vacation, too! Handle The Musts and then enjoy the rest of your day - speedy times are coming when vacations are over and the kids head back to school.
Recognize this bit of wisdom from Oprah: "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate." ENJOY, and we can all get busy next month!

WOW- can you believe it's almost June? Into the sixth month of 2017 already?! This quick passage of time is a bit about what the topic is today - that little bits and pieces will help with getting projects done, even if it is just little bits and pieces!
I'm into the last week of this round of eye drops, which seems to be the way I have watched the rapid passing of the year thus far, drop by drop. My detached retina repair seems to be holding and the cataract surgery the initial surgery caused is now behind me. Yahoo! My sight is almost back to where I was in early January, thank goodness! Sight is something we so take for granted - never again!
This leads me to trying to tackle projects whose completion seems to have stymied me thus far, for many and varied reasons. Yep - I have the same 'I need a push' issues that you face, and have just had wonderful excuses all year. No more! I have company coming the 3rd week of June and they are expecting to see the photo album of our trip (last fall!) to Italy, no excuses! Isn't that just the way, though? We procrastinate until there no longer is time left for such an inane pretext.
All of you, friends and clients, are aware of one of my biggest 'preaching tools' - It doesn't matter if you do only 15 minutes a day of decluttering, organizing, filing, whatever .... by the end of the week, you have almost two hours of that project done! Wahoo! Don't tell me you don't have 15 minutes - just put down your phones, stop site-surfing, turn off the tube, right? You can do it!
I've always tried to walk my own talk, with some success, in devoting about an hour a day to a photo-book task. I have now realized, in seeing my sister-in-law's 2015 album recently (wonderful with mostly just photo after photo and no text necessary!), that I've also been falling into another productivity trap - perfectionism! Oh, yes, we all know that perfection doesn't exist, so stop aiming for it, right? Great reminder! I truly do not need (and no one cares!) to be able to identify the building each ceiling and tapestry comes from. The research on that has been horrendous, and after one trip to Italy, I'll never be a scholar of ancient art, anyway!
So, as I close out this newsletter to you today, I'm going to regroup over unfounded 'needs' for that mission and just 'git 'er done' as a certain comedian prompts. How?
You're heard me on all this before, right? Reminders don't hurt any of us, do they? Onward! Slow and steady = progress AND completion!
